Chris Jones’ Letter to The EPA

On June 4, 2024, DWD President, Chris Jones, sent a letter in support of the “Petition for Emergency Action Pursuant to the Safe Drinking Water Act, 42 U.S.C. Sec. 300i, to Protect the Citizens of the Karst Region of Iowa from Imminent and Substantial Endangerment to Public Health Caused by Nitrate Contamination of Underground Resources of Drinking Water” filed by the Iowa Environmental Council and other Environmental groups on April 16, 2024. In his letter, Chris Jones discusses the MMP yield goal contributing to the emergency at hand, which must be replaced by the ISU standard, and a new and expanded CAFO moratorium.
