Our Student Interns Meet Maya Van Rossum

Our student interns had the privilege of meeting Maya K. Van Rossum via Zoom on Tuesday May 28, 2024. Maya K. Van Rossum is the founder of the Green Amendments for the Generations, a non-profit organization aimed to inspire constitutional recognition and protection of environmental rights in every state, and eventually, at a federal level. During the students’ meeting with Maya K. Van Rossum, they discussed specific criteria and additional considerations for an effective green amendment. Maya K. Van Rossum discussed the importance of language in a proposed green amendment, and offered examples of effective language. The student interns and Maya K. Van Rossum concluded the meeting with a short Q&A session.

The student interns will utilize various methods described by Maya K. Van Rossum as they explore an Iowa constitutional amendment for a greener future.

Kate Robinson started law school at the Univeristy of Iowa in 2023, while out of class, she works with attorney James Larew in his Iowa City, IA office as a paralegal and manages the social media for the DWD.
