Happy Holidays
Happy Holidays
Dear Friend and Valued Supporter:
The holiday season is in full swing! The Driftless Water Defenders had a busy 2025, full of visible and effective advocacy. We could not have done it without people like you.
From our packed-gallery May 2025 Benefit Concert, to our well-attended June 2025 Annual Meeting, to various legal battles throughout the year, we are advocating for Iowans’ fundamental right to have access to clean water. But the fight isn’t over! It’s just begun! We need to keep the momentum going into the New Year.
We hope that you will consider making a year-end tax-deductible contribution to DWD. One of our Members, E.B., from Garner sent us the following poignant note with his generous contribution:
“I have a strong interest in your advocacy for protecting Iowa’s water. I fished and hunted in Iowa all my life (78 years old). Witnessed first hand the decline in water quality. Please use these funds to further your mission of protecting the water resources and raising awareness.”

Best wishes to you and your loved ones for a productive and enjoyable New Year.
Sincerely,
Chris Jones, DWD President

Driftless Water Defenders is a non-profit Iowa environmental law and advocacy organization founded in May 2024 and focused on reducing farm-related water pollution and pollution-caused threats to public health in the Driftless Area of northeast Iowa, and statewide. We got started because some Iowans decided enough is enough, and it’s time to confront head-on industrialized agriculture’s assault on our water resources.
We are intent on changing public policy, engaging citizens and, when necessary, litigating matters to protect and enhance Iowans’ access to clean water for personal, business and recreational purposes.
Our Mission
Strategy
Driftless Water Defenders manages a comprehensive program of focused litigation, persistent public engagement, and effective fund-raising to accomplish its mission.
Operations
Along with preparing and executing litigation in support of its mission and goals, Driftless Water Defenders communicates with Members, funders, citizens, media, public officials, business leaders, and the farm community.
